On Wednesday morning, an 11-year-old girl was reportedly kidnapped while traveling to school in an e-rickshaw in Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand. Fortunately, she was rescued later in the nearby Ramgarh district, according to police reports.
Authorities stated that they apprehended the suspects involved in the abduction within 12 hours of the incident. The kidnappers allegedly abandoned the girl approximately 60 kilometers away in the Kuzu police station area.
The girl was taken from the Siramtoli locality in the Chutia police station jurisdiction. Senior Superintendent of Police Chandan Kumar Sinha mentioned that following a tip-off around 8:45 AM, a large-scale search operation was initiated across 90 locations in ten districts of the state.
Upon noticing the heavy police presence, the abductors fled, leaving the girl behind. Local witnesses reported that a group of young men in a car had stopped the e-rickshaw and forcibly taken her away.
According to a statement from the Ranchi police, five individuals, including a minor, have been arrested in connection with the kidnapping. The police seized the vehicle used in the crime, along with two country-made pistols, two cartridges, two smartphones, and 5,200 rupees in cash from the suspects.
The statement further revealed that four of the arrested individuals were directly involved in the abduction, while one had altered the vehicle's license plate. During interrogation, the criminals admitted that the kidnapping was intended for ransom, and they planned to escape to Bihar with the girl.
The main conspirator has been identified as Rudranshu Vishwakarma, a gym trainer who orchestrated the kidnapping to settle debts. The individual who fired shots during the abduction has been identified as Rishabh Barman.
